Subject: Formal Complaint and Request for Compensation – Flight FR SIDE8V (Madrid to Stansted, 19th July 2024) Dear Ryanair Customer Service, I am writing to formally request compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 for the significant disruption to my journey on flight FR SIDE8V from Madrid (MAD) to London Stansted (STN) on 19th July 2024, as well as reimbursement for additional expenses incurred. Our flight, originally scheduled to depart at 16:05, was subject to severe delays and ultimately left us stranded in Madrid under the following circumstances: • We were boarded onto the aircraft twice, enduring nearly 40 minutes inside a plane without air conditioning in over 30°C heat before being asked to disembark. • The flight was initially delayed by two hours, then repeatedly rescheduled until we were made to board again at 2:00 AM. • At 2:40 AM, we were forced to disembark once more, and the flight was ultimately cancelled. I am aware that Ryanair has since claimed the delay was due to a Microsoft services failure; however, this is demonstrably false. At the airport, we were informed that the delay was caused by a technical issue with the pilot cabin, requiring a technician to be flown in from Ireland to inspect the aircraft. Additionally, other Ryanair flights were operating that evening, while ours remained grounded, further proving that this was not an external IT-related issue but rather an operational failure within Ryanair’s control. Given the circumstances, I am entitled to the following under EU Regulation 261/2004: • €400 compensation per passenger due to the nearly 12-hour delay caused by an issue within Ryanair’s control. • Reimbursement for reasonable expenses, including: • Meals and refreshments purchased during the extensive waiting period. • Hotel accommodation in London that was paid for but could not be used due to the failure to arrive as scheduled. I have attached copies of receipts, booking confirmations, and other relevant documentation to support my claim. For swift processing, please transfer the compensation and reimbursements directly to the following bank account: IBAN: ES76 0049 6208 5026 1608 7336 Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide a timeline for compensation and reimbursement. If no satisfactory resolution is provided within a reasonable timeframe, I will escalate my claim to the relevant regulatory authorities and consider legal action if necessary. Paula Urruticoechea. En nombre de Ryanair, le ofrecemos nuestras más sinceras disculpas por el retraso del vuelo RK5993 de STN a MAD el 19 de Julio, 2024. Lamenmente, el vuelo se retrasó debido a una interrupción global en un sistema informático de un tercero, fuera del control de Ryanair. Como este evento estuvo fuera de nuestro control, consideramos que no estamos obligados a pagar la compensación monetaria escida en el Artículo 7 del Reglamento (CE) 261/2004. Además, el Reglamento (UE) 261 exige a las aerolíneas que proporcionen el aviso del Artículo 14.2 en el momento de la facturación y que lo distribuyan durante las interrupciones del vuelo. Para cumplir con el Reglamento (UE) 261, Ryanair ha proporcionado el aviso del Artículo 14.2 al facturar en línea. Esto ofrece a los clientes la oportunidad de revisar y acceder al aviso sobre sus derechos en todo momento antes de la salida. En cuanto a los gastos solicitados, le informamos que, según el Reglamento UE 261/2004, no podemos reembolsar ningún gasto sin los recibos/facturas debidamente detallados y desglosados.
