Claim regarding the loss of personal property valued at more than €300,000
I am submitting this claim regarding our experience as residents of a property managed by AZZAM VIVIENDA SL.
While we were away, our personal belongings were progressively removed from the apartment. We were told that the apartment had been “sealed” due to an issue concerning the payment of rent. However, we were told that our belongings would remain inside the sealed apartment. Instead, they were removed in small quantities while we were away.
The total value of the personal property that was lost exceeds €300,000. We were not only left without our home, but also without our personal belongings.
A particularly concerning incident involved our MacBook. Approximately nine months later, the device was switched on in Madrid at an office associated with Azzam. It was subsequently returned to us by an employee of that office, for which we are grateful. The employee initially presented herself as a cleaning lady and later sent us a photograph of the MacBook in an office where an Azzam corporate banner was clearly visible in the background.
We also have serious concerns regarding the building’s security personnel. They were involved in the process of removing belongings from our apartment, and we subsequently saw one of the guards wearing personal belongings that had been removed from our home. Our interactions with the security staff were also extremely confrontational, including an incident that nearly escalated into a physical altercation with our friend.
What is particularly shocking to us is that, despite the seriousness of what happened, we have been unable to obtain adequate accountability or satisfactory answers. We were effectively left without our home and without our belongings, while those involved appear to have faced no meaningful consequences.
As residents and consumers in a European country in the 21st century, we find it extremely difficult to understand how such a situation can occur and why there appears to be so little protection for affected residents. The circumstances have left us feeling that basic rules and protections were simply disregarded.
We request a formal written explanation from AZZAM VIVIENDA SL regarding the removal, handling and loss of our belongings, including who authorised the removal, who had access to the property and where the belongings were kept. We also request that the company address the financial loss exceeding €300,000.
This claim is based on our personal experience. We have documentation and other evidence relating to these events and can provide it if required.
