The client purchased the insurance on the 16
th of July 2024, for a trip commencing from the 8th till the 12th of October. The client lodged a claim on September 25th, in relation to a trip cancellation. Upon reviewing the claim, our intermediary noted that the medical report provided, confirms that there were ongoing tests from the 30h of June, which in August, resulted in the condition which triggered the cancellation.
Our policy wording states that “Exclusions relating to your health: It is a condition of this policy that you will not be covered for any claim: arising directly or indirectly from or in connection with any medical condition for which”
(a) at the time of taking out this protection or booking your trip (whichever is later):
(i) you are being prescribed regular medication or have received treatment for or had a consultation with a medical practitioner in the past 12 months, or;
(ii) you are suffering health issues which are under investigation or awaiting test results, or surgery or treatment at a hospital or nursing home.”
Therefore based on the above the claim was rejected.
