More than 6.500 consumers are in addition to the campaign "No me toques los gigas" promoted by OCU
24 feb. 2016More than 6,500 consumers have joined the campaign "No me toques los gigas" that the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) began last December directed against the leading manufacturers of mobile phones that make misleading advertising on the memory capacity of its terminals.
OCU recalled that the memory capacity is one of the main features of a mobile phone, and make choose for a consumer model or a different. OCU denounced the internal storage available is much lower than announced in the vast majority of the models. This is due to the installation of number of unsolicited applications for consumers, who can not be eliminated. Applications that pay a remuneration for phone manufacturers, despite reduce the memory available to the user.
This memory loss varies from one manufacturer to another. Also it depends on the storage capacity of the mobile. OCU complaint that tests show that in some cases the percentaje of loss of phone memory capacity reaches 78% for phones with less memory capacity.
In this situtation OCU filed for conciliation to ask most manufacturers rectify mobile advertising urging a court settlement. OCU aims to achieve on the one hand, manufacturers change their advertising for informing consumers about the actual memory capacity. Furthermore, OCU also calls for allowing the consumer to uninstall the applications that come installed as standard, and finally for those cases in which this operation is not possible. OCU seeks compensation for lost users gigas.
OCU asks consumers to suuport its campaing:“No me toques los gigas” to get through this lawsuit, manufacturers are required to report on the actual capacity of the phone. To do this on its website, it has developed a calculator that allows all consumers to check the actual capacity of your mobile phone and join the initiative of OCU.
