OCU recalls the importance of regularly changing passwords before Dropbox hacking

The company Dropbox has acknowledged that there has been a security breach and that as a result of it more than 60 million accounts have been hacked recently. Dropbox has the same e-mail alerts its users to immediately precaution change passwords if they had not done since 2012.

OCU advises consumers to change their passwords regularly and do not use the same password for different accounts, devices or social networks. It is important that passwords are complex and secure as possible to prevent people outside the can decipher.

A password to be secure must meet the following requirements:

     Be at least 8 different characters consisting of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.

     Not contain personal information such as family names or phone numbers.

     Be long and complex. It does not have to make sense.

     Do not use just one word, it is preferable to use a phrase whose words are separated by spaces or hyphens.
