OCU requires clarify responsibilities in the case NUDISCO

07 abr. 2016

Recently in the media appeared disturbing reports, a Spanish canning company (NUDISCO S.L.) has admitted that delayed the date of preferential consumption of their products, depending on the destination country where these were consumed. The company also confirmed to have altered in some cases the origin of the products used in their cans.

For OCU labeling these manipulations are obvious fraud and deception for consumers. This is another example of the arbitrariness with which these dates are fixed without using scientific or technical criteria. Since OCU requires that responsibilities in this case are clarified and remember that there is still great confusion among consumers about the differences between best before date and expiry. It is important that there is greater awareness about it because not respecting the expiry dates could pose health risks to consumers.

OCU stresses the importance of differentiating these products dates and advocates limiting food waste. OCU offers consumers information on these differences and encourages them to participate in the campaign "No tires la comida” in http://www.ocu.org/movilizate/no-tires-la-comida
