Insufficient semaphore risk economy. Latest data on MARS chocolate affected
25 feb. 2016OCU considered insufficient new alerts semaphore risk
The CNMV intends to add new warnings to the current semaphore risk of economy including: an indicator not suitable for individuals, more about the market cost and the obligation to include several risk scenarios (favorable, neutral or unfavorable) .
OCU believes that these changes add more information are inadequate and do not include any of the defendants changed since consumer associations.
Since OCU is appreciated that the bottom line would extend the obligation of this semaphore risk to include those most dangerous products such as warrants, derivatives, CFD, among others. Products that currently are incredibly, excluded from the regulations.
In the opinion of OCU this semaphore creates more confusion for users and is not a useful tool for the investor.
The fact that institutions may have the power to choose whether to publish the color scale or a single number, collected on a scale of 1-6-rather than the logic of 1-10 (where 5 is not an approved but high risk) may confuse rather than clarify.
Since OCU believe that this semaphore does not prevent the marketing of toxic or clarifies the risk assumed by an investor when you hire a "dangerous" product contain harmful clauses or may not be protected by any guarantee fund. Therefore OCU recommends keeping a cautious approach and not rely blindly on these labels.
On the other hand OCU believes that the same logic applies to the CNMV whose current scale of 1-7 for investment funds is even less understandable.
