OCU meets AECOSAN to act against abuses in the car rental industry

04 jul. 2014
The Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN) undertook, at the meeting held today between OCU and its director, to do everything possible to end abuses by car rental companies.

The campaign against the abusive practices by some car rental companies that OCU is carrying out with the British consumer association Which?, has borne fruit. OCU has informed the director of the AECOSAN of the existence of practices in breach of consumer rights and has requested that in the next coordination meeting to be held with the Autonomous Communities in mid-September they present their complaint. It is the Autonomous Communities who are the competent authorities to curb these practices that are extremely damaging to both consumers and to businesses in the sector that are honest and even to the international image of Spain. AECOSAN is committed to doing everything possible so that the regional authorities investigate and punish such practices. Meanwhile, OCU will provide any additional information that may be of interest and value to this organisation, such as the testimonies of those affected who report similar events in our complaint form, which can be accessed by clicking here.
