OCU reports three airlines and eleven online travel agencies

OCU has conducted a study on the online sale of airline tickets. Illegal surcharges and lack of information about the full price from the start of the purchase are the main problems that prevent users from comparing prices between different sites.

Thanks to the collaboration of users through social networks, OCU has lodged formal complaints against various airlines and online travel agencies for charging a fee for payment by credit card. This charge has been banned since 1 September. Some companies have already reacted and eliminated this charge.
OCU has conducted a study on the purchase of airline tickets by internet. The results of the study show that despite being banned, several airlines and the vast majority of online travel agencies are still charging this illegal commission.

In addition OCU has shown how a large number of online travel agencies do not report the full price of the service at the start of the purchase as required by law. This makes it difficult for users to compare prices between different websites and companies.
OCU has reported three airlines and eleven online travel agencies to the consumer protection authorities over these practices which are anti-consumer rights. OCU asks the consumer authorities for firm action through routine inspections to prevent this clear breach of consumer protection standards.
