IBERIA and VUELING no longer charge fees for payment by credit card
18 nov. 2014OCU has ascertained that both IBERIA and VUELING no longer charge a fee for the use of a credit card. This is the first step in the campaign started by OCU against illegal charges for card payments. On 1 September the ban on these commissions came into force. In spite of this, many companies, especially in the airline sector, continued to apply these fees despite it being clearly illegal to do so. OCU denounced IBERIA and VUELING, and other companies. In order to do this, we sought the assistance of citizens through social networks. The first step has already been achieved. Thanks to these formal complaints, these companies have stopped charging the user for payment by card. OCU will continue to formally denounce other companies that currently still apply this clearly illegal surcharge. In the near future new cases will be added to those already presented with the aim of eradicating this practice which clearly harms the interests of consumers.
