CEPSA wins OCU’S first Collective Purchase of Fuel
27 may. 2015The first collective purchase of fuel organised by OCU, through www.quieropagarmenosgasolina.org, now has a winner. Finally company CEPSA has been selected based on their proposal which will allow all consumers who have taken part to reduce their fuel bills. This was the main aim of the campaign promoted by OCU.
There are 211,610 consumers who have joined the initiative put forward by OCU. A resounding success that demonstrates the growing interest in this type of initiative among consumers.
The company that has won is CEPSA. Those who have participated in the collective purchase will be eligible for one year’s discount of up to 8 cents per litre for any type of petrol or diesel fuel, six cents at any CEPSA filling station (1,500 service points in Spain) with two cents extra for using your usual filling station. This station will be the one each consumer chooses and it can be changed as often as the consumer needs.
Given the characteristics of this product, very different from other collective purchases, discounts will be channelled through a card. Through this card, those registered in the OCU collective purchase can benefit from this discount. A discount which on average will mean an annual saving of € 106.04 in the case of diesel and € 103.29 in the case of petrol 95, although the final reduction will depend on the consumption of each user. The card is free, does not imply any commitment to buy or to use and has no cost whatsoever for the consumer.
On the website www.quieropagarmenosgasolina.org all the details and terms of the purchase are explained. As of 1 June, OCU will get in touch individually with all the people registered, informing them about the savings obtained based on their individual data and how to join this initiative, all free of charge. Given the success of this initiative, OCU has extended the registration period for the collective purchase which reopens from 27 May to 10 June. So now, more consumers will benefit from this discount.
OCU welcomes the outcome of this initiative which, to begin with, has achieved significant savings for everyone who has supported it and which, moreover, contributes to increasing competition in a sector where it is not at all easy for consumers to get better conditions individually. So far, more than 900,000 consumers have joined the collective purchases promoted by OCU. The success of these initiatives shows that consumers have more power together, and paves the way for the future development of such initiatives which are new forms of collaboration that will allow consumers to obtain goods and services.
Finally, OCU would like to thank most sincerely its more than 300,000 members for the confidence and support that allows us to carry out such initiatives for the benefit of all consumers.
