More than 131,000 people have signed up for OCU’s Collective Purchase of Fuel

23 abr. 2015
Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante and Málaga are the provinces with more people registered

Nearly a month after opening the registration period in the collective purchase of fuel promoted by OCU, more than 131,000 consumers have already joined this initiative which aims to achieve savings in the petrol bill paid by families. Through the website www.quieropagarmenosgasolina.org until next May 12, consumers will be able to find out about and, if they wish, join this initiative.

Madrid with 27,061 registered consumers is the province at the top of the list, followed by Barcelona with 8,113, Valencia with 4,819, Alicante with 3,708 and Malaga with 3,686 all rank highly. At the end of the list are the provinces of Teruel with 251, Soria with 204, Melilla with 40 and Ceuta with 26.

By Region, Madrid, Andalusia, Catalonia and Valencia occupy the top positions by number of people registered. Navarra and Rioja are the ones with fewest. The initiative promoted by OCU has had the best acceptance in Madrid, Castilla-Leon and Cantabria, communities where the percentage of people registered exceeds the proportional percentage of the population as a whole. In the opposite situation are the two archipelagoes, Ceuta and Melilla.

Data provided by people registered shows that 63.4% of them use diesel in its various forms, compared to 25.8% who use petrol. More than half of drivers say that their spending on fuel exceeds 100 euros per month. 30.5% spend less than that amount and the remaining 18% did not provide data about their fuel consumption.

OCU reminds you that 12 May will mark the end of the registration period for this collective purchase, with the intention of bringing together the largest possible number of people; therefore we appeal to all consumers to support this initiative www.quieropagarmenosgasolina.org the ultimate goal of which is to lead to real competition in the fuel market, real competition that benefits consumers through better prices.
