Appeal to those affected by the "Santander Securities" investment

04 jun. 2014
OCU Will defend the right of savers, by going to court if necessary
valores

Madrid, June 4.

OCU will help those affected by the "Santander Securities" to get their money back: we therefore call on all those who, at the time, took out this product to contact the organisation in order to evaluate the feasibility of their case.
OCU explains that in September 2007 the Santander Bank made an issue of securities (convertible bonds) of EUR 7,000 million for the purchase of ABN Amro.

The conditions, about which many investors were unaware, assumed that the capital invested would only be fully recovered if the Bank's shares rose or remained at the same level, something which did not happen. The vast majority of those affected have lost a considerable sum of invested capital. For example, someone who invested 5,000 euros in September 2007, received at the date of exchange 3300.
The marketing of this issue began between individuals even before the National Securities & Stock Market Commission approved the prospectus. In other words, this was sold to some retail investors without them being able to know the conditions of sale. Based on these facts, the National Securities and Stock Market Commission has imposed two sanctions on the bank for irregularities in the selling of this product.

Losses vary according to the date on which each investor decided to convert their bonds into Santander Bank shares. For OCU this is another example of the many toxic products that banks have sold indiscriminately to their customers, thanks to the permissiveness of  supervisory authorities who do no more than impose sanctions that do not allow customers to retrieve their money.
In the light of this situation, OCU will take the necessary action to defend the rights of these savers.
All those affected can contact OCU by phone on 900 900 359 or send an email to accionescolectivas@ocu.org with the subject line "Valores Santander" (Santander Securities). The deadline is July 31.
