OCU already warned in 2013 of the dangers of water dispensers

18 abr. 2016

Last week there was in Barcelona city and several towns in the area poisoning from ingesting bottled water in bottles and drums of the brand Eden Spring. Those affected about 700 people, workers from different companies such metropolitan area have suffered an outbreak of gastroenteritis from drinking this water.

Eden Spring and similar companies market and distribute bottled water sources or portable devices, their regular customers are often companies but also some companies sell these devices for domestic consumption.

OCU recalls that in 2013 and warned of the water that is dispensed in such decanters does not meet or offer the same guarantees as tap water.

According to the OCU, products sold in dispensers water was then analyzed did not provide anything that does not have running water in most Spanish cities, it is less hygienic safety guarantees and is more expensive than bottled water. OCU believes that companies that sell this type of water in bottles as a substitute to tap water, it should require them similar criteria which must meet tap water.

OCU has been observed in one of his studies on this product some risks, for example water of these bottles contains no disinfectant, as does have tap water, so any manipulation or improper storage or room temperature can increase the presence of pathogenic microbes. So it's not entirely surprising that happen occasionally or poisoning outbreaks like that took place these days.
