The German carmaker announced yesterday that American consumers will compensate affected by diesel engines souped promising low emissions. The figure that they were indemnified, yet to be confirmed, could reach the total purchase value of the vehicle.

Volkswagen offers the repurchase, settlement or invalidity of the financing contract to all the cars affected. In addition to this proposal, those affected may receive compensation of up to $ 5000 per vehicle.

OCU is worrying for the difference in attitude of some governments against others, in this case the US authorities to tackling this misleading consumers against the laxity shown by European governments and agencies of the European Union. The handling and the consequences for the environment have been the same on either side of the Atlantic and despite that the German group insists on significant differences between affected and others.

From OCU are required to Volkswagen offering the same compensation and solutions to its European customers. It has therefore launched a campaign web: http://www.ocu.org/movilizate/mentira-vw, which have already joined 6,000 affected, to raise a class action and that the courts are requiring the German manufacturer to adequately compensate those affected by this scandal. Similarly from OCU is still claiming that meets Volkswagen announced deadlines for the repair of vehicles, deadlines repeatedly breached without the other side from Volkswagen is informed of the exact reasons therefor
