OCU requires vehicle manufacturers greater security controls

29 jun. 2016

The company Toyota today announced a new call to review that affects nearly 3 million vehicles worldwide because of a problem detected in the gas filter that can generate cracks and fuel leakage.

The models affected by this call are the Toyota Prius, the Prius C, the Prius PHV, the Auris, the Corolla, Lexus HS250h Zellas or CT200h and manufactured between April 2006 and August 2015. This review joins the already announced a few hours ago by a problem with side airbags front seats affecting 7 million cars worldwide.

The manufacturer Toyota has officially announced that the parts will be replaced at no cost to the owner and that the affected vehicles will be checked.

Unfortunately such appeals has been happening too much so frequent in recent years, for OCU, although it is appreciated that the manufacturers do not hide the problems detected and solved for free, the fact occurring is worrisome and raises questions about current process safety and quality in vehicle manufacturing. In view OCU cars should be put on the market only when they have passed all the necessary controls to ensure the safety of consumers.

OCU advises consumers who have purchased a Toyota vehicle from 2006 to check if you are affected by any of these calls in the following link https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/owners/recall-checker.json#/iframe/https%3A%2F%2Fforms.toyota.co.uk%2Frecall-checker the company has facilitated and in case of further questions contact the Toyota dealership where you acquire your vehicle.
