OCU advises when buying a second hand car

27 may. 2016

The market cars in Spain continues to gain market share, according to the Ganvam (National Association of Motor Vehicle Dealers). In last April market share expanded to 17.3%, by every new vehicle in Spain 1.7 used cars are sold. Most Spaniards now opt for choosing a used car versus a new one.

OCU offers Spanish consumers tips for buying a used car safely and minimize the risk when you purchase your vehicle. Currently this option offers significant economic benefits to consumers, which could bring additional savings of between 1000 € and 3000 € in most cases. In addition you can negotiate the final price.

OCU warns that it is important to check the condition of the car and check that the most important elements are in good condition (timing belt, wheels, shock absorbers, low and veneer), if it is possible, consumers should go to a workshop confidence a complete overhaul. It is also important to drive the car to prove it.

OCU recommends the consumer to check the legality and check the car papers (book keeping, registration certificate, ITV, chassis number). To negotiate a price you can just check online guides as Ganvam or Eurotax.
