OCU recalls that from tomorrow reductions of 75% apply in roaming
29 abr. 2016Starting tomorrow, April 30, roaming charges that mobile operators apply when using the phone outside Spain will suffer a cut amount. This reduction has been imposed by the European institutions, and prior to the disappearance of roaming within the EU to be produced in June 2017 step.
The maximum rates are reduced by 75%. So, as much may be charged a fee (on national company rate) of 5 cents per minute of talk time or MB of internet traffic. OCU remember that these are maximum rates that operators must apply by default, but offers alert operators can do to these calls, which so far have involved overpay consumers.
The final disappearance of roaming in the EU must be ratified by Parliament and the European Council, and therefore OCU requires the necessary technical developments for implementation and the definition of clauses on services in roaming done as can be as soon as possible provisions of "fair use" so that further delay will not occur.
However OCU recalls that these cuts do not extend to country outside the EU, so caution in the use of mobile should remain high when other countries that are very close as Andorra, Switzerland visited.
Currently due to fear of high roaming charges many consumers stop using their mobile devices when traveling abroad for fear of exorbitant bills.
