OCU welcomes with optimism the change of the European Commission in the case of Dieselgate

30 sep. 2016

While last September 23 OCU criticized the lack of ambition of the European Commissioner for Justice Vera Jurová when demand financial reparations for those affected by the call Dieselgate, following statements made yesterday by this and by the curator Market Interior Elzbieta Bienkowska a door opens for optimism and expects OCU finally the German company to meet its responsibilities for fraud.

During the conference held yesterday in Brussels by the European Office of Consumers (BEUC) from which OCU part, both commissioners made mention of the need for Volkswagen regain consumer confidence and a just solution to those affected, who should include not only repair vehicles but also financial compensation, as from OCU has been directly communicated to them repeatedly.

For OCU this is good news because for the first time the European Commission adopts a unanimous opinion on the need for those affected by fraud emissions receive financial compensation by Volkswagen. Also from OCU is confident that this support for their thesis serves as an element to be considered by the courts in the class action lawsuit filed last July 18 and still can continue to adhere those affected who wish through the page web http://www.ocu.org/movilizate/mentira-vw or phone 900 907 037.
