Extra virgin olive oil
25 oct. 2012In issue 374 of our magazine OCU-Compra Maestra for the month of October, we published the results of a comparative analysis of extra virgin olive oil. The results showed very clearly that 25% of the oils tested (9 out of 34) were not extra virgin olive oil, despite the claims on the label, implying a clear consumer fraud by containing an inferior product to the one on the label. OCU brought the results of the study to the attention of the competent authorities (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment) and olive oil business sector associations. They denounced the brands to the regional authorities for fraud in their product labeling.
